Save the Date!! 2020 FAHA Golf Outing - Friday, October 2, 2020. Request for Volunteers.

Dear FAHA Hockey Families,

It has been a crazy summer to say the least but we were glad to welcome our players back to the ice for tryouts this week.  It won’t be long before hockey is a weekly event for most of us.

I wanted to reach out with a “Save the Date” reminder about this year’s FAHA Golf Outing on Friday October 2 at Findlay Country Club.  This event is our largest fundraiser of the year and you can support the event in a number of ways.

We encourage you or your business to enter a team into the event or consider a sponsorship opportunity.  Sponsorships will range from a title sponsor to hole sponsors to meet all levels of support.  Watch for more information about these opportunities and registration for the event in the near future.

In the meantime, I am looking to assemble the Golf Outing Committee to assist with the preparations for the event.  Duties will include, but are not limited to, idea generation for event success, team recruitment, securing auction items and sponsor solicitation.  The committee will meet 3 times prior to the event date for no more than 90 minutes each meeting.  Ideally, 4 individuals will be required and this will satisfy your DIBS requirement for the 2020-21 season.

Also, we will need a minimum of 6 volunteers to assist the day of the event from 10am – 5pm.  Duties will include, but are not limited to, registration of players, setup and tear-down of event and administration of on course games.  All volunteers are invited to attend the post-event reception and auction and your commitment will satisfy your DIBS requirement for the 2020-21 season.

Please email if you have any questions or to join the committee or volunteer list no later than August 14.  The first committee meeting will be held in late August.

Note from FAHA Board regarding the 2020-21 season

FAHA Parents and Players,

In these days of COVID the FAHA Board is working to ensure a normal season as best we can. At times it appears this will be achievable and others impossible. With all of the unknowns and changes Covid has created in our daily lives, this stressful impact has also been felt in the governing bodies of hockey from FAHA standard operations to USA Hockey and up to the NHL. The board is still waiting to receive guidance from these outside bodies and are weighing all options to keep kids playing.

Although there is a possibility of a cancelled season, we are confident that will not be the case. Contingency plans are being considered in the event of loss of play to make sure the kids have a fun avenue to play hockey. We will explore all options to give the safest and most enjoyable environment for our young men and women to compete in.

The BTHL sent notice that it will announce nothing until at least 8/16. We have reached out to the NWOHL as well and received no response as to this year’s scheduling. With these being the main supply for competition we are unable to schedule games for the season yet. As information comes in we will pass it along with strategy as soon as we can.

Please also do your part and wear a mask, at not just hockey events, but when you are out. This is the only statistically proven tool to help reduce cases and help us get back to normal as soon as possible. Please also help at any level you can so that we can have a successful hockey season. We want to also remind you all that we have a scholarship program available for these times of need.

The board is also making an effort to be a connected feeder system for the Findlay High School Hockey Program. The Findlay coaching staff has been more than gracious with their time and guidance and The FAHA Board will continue to unite these two bodies the best we can. Our teams are also focused on developing our local players first and foremost.

Now more than ever our children need the escape of hockey and we, The FAHA Board, are completely committed to making sure that happens in a positive, safe manner. Please be patient with us and we will keep working to make this FAHA season a positive one.

On behalf of the FAHA Board,

Nate Heintzelman, FAHA President
